John as a tropical storm hits Mexico’s Pacific coast a 2nd time

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Tropical Storm John came ashore on Mexico’s Pacific Coast on Thursday, coming back to life for a second landfall after its previous deadly passage through the country earlier in the week. The U.S. National Hurricane Center says the storm’s sustained winds were 45 mph, and tropical force winds extended up to 160 miles from the center, but were expected to gradually weaken through the day. John initially hit the country late Monday when it made landfall as a Category 3 hurricane in Acapulco on the country’s southern Pacific coast.  At least five people have died.
