FIRST ALERT FORECAST: Storm chances for Yuma County as excessive heat continues

High temperatures will remain throughout the week as rain could be affecting the Yuma area in the coming days

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The subtropical high will continue to remain unseasonably strong through the middle of this week, allowing near record to record hot temperatures to continue.

An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect for much of Maricopa County including the Phoenix Metro today and has been expanded to include the entire forecast area Tuesday and Wednesday.

Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible through the remainder of this week mainly across the higher terrain of south central AZ.
