PARIS (AP) — The Paris summit on finance and climate has wrapped up without a deal for a tax on the greenhouse gas emissions produced from international shipping. The gathering of world leaders and finance bosses aimed at tackling climate change and poverty ended without a major announcement Friday as French President Emmanuel Macron, who hosted the summit, said the proposed reforms would be assessed within the next two years. That left climate activists lamenting the lack of ambitious responses to the problems explored at the meeting. Brazil President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said the world should understand that if institutions don’t change, “Those who are rich will stay rich. Those who are poor will remain poor.”
