Community members establish memorial for fallen officers

KYMA

IMPERIAL, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Community leaders are continuing their efforts to ensure that fallen members of law enforcement and their families are never forgotten.

And family members will always have something to cherish for the great sacrifices of their loved ones.

The Imperial Valley Law Enforcement Memorial (IVLEM) Committee is currently working on generating funds to establish a memorial for fallen officers and deputies at the Pioneers Memorial Museum located on Aten Road in Imperial.

Formed in 2009, IVLEM strives to honor local heroes and their families who have paid the ultimate sacrifice to ensure the community remains safe.

IVLEM President Wes Boerner said that 44 officers and deputies have died in the line of duty in the past 100 years in Imperial County.
