NAACP Yuma hosts blood drive on Wednesday

KYMA

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A non-profit organization is teaming up with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive in Yuma.

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will be hosting the event at the Martin Luther King Center this Wednesday.

Each blood donation helps so many people including patients with sickle cell anemia.

"We don't have a lot of sickle cell patients and majority that I know are children and have a hard time finding blood that is suitable for them that match their blood," says Michelle Smith, NAACP Treasurer.

The blood drive will be at the Martin Luther King Center located at 300 S. 13th Avenue from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
