Convicted felon caught on New Years Eve

KYMA

CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The Calexico Police Department responded to a car crash on New Year's Eve, and to their surprise, weapons, drugs, and a convicted felon were all found in one of the vehicles.

The crash happened on Rockwood Ave and police say when they arrived they started to interview both victims on what had happened.

And to their surprise, police say that in one of the vehicles, they realized that at the back of the passenger side, there was a handgun.

The passenger Carlos Moreno Jr. quickly denied responsibility for this gun.

But police say that wasn't the only thing found on him.

"During the search, narcotics and a loaded magazine was located in his possession," said Sgt. Sean Acuña.

Turns out Moreno is a convicted felon and the firearm found is stolen from Yuma, Arizona.
