?????????????????????????????????????????

(CNN) Edinburgh, Scotland- Scientists may have found a clue as to why three dolphins were stranded along the Scottish coast.

Their research indicates their brains showed signs of Alzheimer's disease.

The study was published in December's European Journal of Neuroscience.

Using postmortem brain examinations, the scientists found three aged dolphins showed brain changes, or lesions, like the ones associated with Alzheimer's disease in humans.

Alzheimer's had been thought to only develop in humans.. but this study provides greater insight into neurological disease in other species.
