ABATE spreads cheer with toy auction
EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - A local organization spreads some holiday cheer for children in need.
American Brotherhood aimed towards education held its annual toy run and auction Saturday at Coyne Powersports in El Centro.
The run, which is now in its 31st year, helps collect toys for children at the Betty Jo McNeece Receiving Home.
The run and auction garnered around 250-300 toys this year.
“Donating a toy gives them hope," said Edward Aranda, ABATE Chapter 38 President. "So that’s what we aim to strive for.”
Evelyn Sanchez is a Project Manager for the Betty Jo McNeece Receiving Home.
The Receiving Home is for children temporarily taken from their parents or guardians' custody.
“It’s really nice to nice those gifts every year," said Sanchez. "We make use of those gifts all year long.”
Sanchez says she appreciates organizations, like ABATE, giving to the Receiving Home each year.
