Kids N Badges in Calexico
Santa Claus made a stop at the kids n badges event in Calexico
CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - A holiday unlike any other for 45 local kids in Calexico all thanks to the kids n' badges program.
A delicious breakfast at denny’s where kids ate pancakes with police officers and firefighters.
They rode police cars and fire trucks and sang christmas carols but it's not a holiday event without Santa arriving in style.
“One of the fun things that I’ve been doing for the past nineteen years... it feels great seeing our children smile and having fun... some of them it’s the first time they've ever been to Denny's and so it is good to see that look,” said Sergeant Victor Legaspi.
That is not all kids were also given 150 dollars each for a shopping spree at walmart.
Sgt. Legaspi has been doing this event for about 19 years and he's thankful every year is a success.
“I’ve organized it and obtained donations and I also like to thank the business in Calexico that assisted us with donations,” said Sergeant Legaspi.
Enoc Retana, who is eleven years old says its his first time here and he is excited he could share it with his sister.
"I want an xbox so I can play with my bother because one time he share his games and I want to share my games with him too because he is the best big brother ever," said Enoc Retana.
