VIDEO: Holiday travel running smoothly so far
(NBC) - This Thanksgiving day has been a smooth day for travel. Weather has been good and delays and cancellations are few. Ron Allen reports from New York's LaGuardia Airport.
After the intense rush before Thanksgiving, travel across the country has been smooth today.
Weather along the east coast and the rest of the country has been relatively good and so far there have been very few delays.
NBC's Ron Allen is at Laguardia airport in New York with an update.
So it's the middle of the day Thanksgiving and here at Laguardia airport, New York and across the country, traffic is light so far.
We checked the board here, about 50 flights, there was only one cancellation and that seems to be the case across the country.
There is a flight-aware map that shows you what's going on there is a lot of green and very few cancellations.
The airlines have been on notice after the SNAFUS and delays and big problems that happened this summer after people started traveling again to be prepared for this Thanksgiving season.
And the TSA, others have said it's a lot easier to deal with a five or six-day period than to deal with the period of weeks during the summer.
Again, so far the other thing that's happening is weather is good here especially on the east coast, there might be some problems in the middle of the country on Sunday when the return happens people going back home.
But for now, the biggest drama seems to be people racing to the airport hoping to get to Thanksgiving dinner on time.
