Two VA officers shot Tuesday evening

CHESTERFIELD, Virg. (NBC) - Two officers were shot in Virginia Tuesday, October 25, 2022 after responding to a call.

The officers were responding to a call about a man who was going through "Some type of emotional distress".

They arrived on scene and one of the officers began speaking with family members while the other spoke with the suspect.

At some point, an altercation took place between one of the officers and the suspect.

The suspect shot the first officer in the chest but avoided life-threatening injuries by wearing a bulletproof vest.

Then, the suspect shot second officer in the upper leg as soon as the latter ran in to assist his injured colleague.

After taking down the suspect, he is now in custody.

Now, the suspect and the two officers are at local hospitals and are all expected to recover.

The incident is under investigation.
