Fatal El Centro traffic collision occurred early Thursday night

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The El Centro Police Department (ECPD) received 911 calls on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at approximately 6:59pm.

Accordingly, this was in response to a collision involving a motorcycle and passenger vehicle in the 800 block of South Fourth Street.

In addition to ECPD, the El Centro Fire Department (ECFD) also responded to the call.

Upon their arrival, officers located a gray Toyota Camry and a Black Yamaha motorcycle, damaged during the collision.

As a result, the 66-year-old male motorcyclist sustained significant injuries and the paramedics pronounced the motorcyclist dead.

On the other hand, the 53-year-old driver of the passenger vehicle sustained minor injuries.

The paramedics then transported the driver to the El Centro Regional Medical Center (ECRMC) for precautionary measures.

Both individuals were residents of El Centro.

As of now, the cause of the collision is under investigation.
