Raleigh remembers mass shooting victims in weekend memorial
RALEIGH, N.C. (NBC) - Memorials remembering the victims killed in a mass shooting continue to grow in Raleigh's Hedingham neighborhood.
Last week's shooting claimed the lives of seven people, including an off-duty Raleigh police officer and a high school student.
Not only that, two others suffered injuries.
This weekend people came from across the state to pay tribute; bringing flowers, candles, letters to this makeshift memorial set up by Back The Blue NC.
Additionally, the group says the memorial offers the community a place to come together and heal.
"Once the media leaves and a few weeks or a month has gone by and everything dies down, stay in touch with the people you met. Get to know your neighbors and just watch out for everybody. We've lost our neighborhoods today, neighborhoods are missing neighbors," said Back the Blue NC representative Gadi Adelman.
Moreover, "A lot of people don't even know their next door neighbor. I think they need to keep this going. They need to keep this tight-knit community going and they need to do that everywhere."
