Man sentenced for straw purchasing 82 firearms

Jorge Zuniga-Aguilera from Arizona City, Arizona was sentenced to 27 months for straw purchasing

PHOENIX (KYMA, KECY) - A 23-year-old man was sentenced to 27 months in prison, along with 36 months of supervised release on September 13, 2022 and previously pleaded guilty for making a false statement during the purchase of a firearm.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office District of Arizona, Jorge Zuniga-Aguilera straw purchased around 82 firearms from Arizona gun stores between September 2020 and June 2021.

Zuniga-Aguilera also put these firearms into illegal commerce and about two of the firearms were found by Mexico City law enforcement, where one firearm was used to kill a Mexican citizen.

The 23-year-old man bought these firearms for someone who could not legally buy firearms in exchange for money, he lied about where he lived and about being the true purchase owner.
