Kentucky Derby

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - On September 12, 2022, a stray horse was turned over to the Arizona Department of Agriculture.

In a press release by the Yuma County Sheriff's Office, no one came forward to claim ownership of the horse a week after the horse was set loose.

The incident happened on Sunday, September 4, at E. County 17 ¼ Street and S. Avenue A – Somerton, AZ.

With the assistance of a local resident, the Yuma County Sheriff's Office (YCSO) Livestock Unit successfully secured the horse.

After the horse has been caught, the YCSO issued a press release stating that if the horse had not been claimed 7 days after it was caught, it would be turned over to the Arizona Dept. of Agriculture.

Unfortunately, no one came forward, and now the horse is in the Dept. of Agriculture's custody.
