More good news for the U.S. labor market as new jobless claims for the week ending August 27 fell to their lowest level in weeks.

New figures from the Labor Department say 232,000 new jobless claims were filed last week, down from five thousand the previous week and the lowest figure since June 25.

The number is also 13,000 fewer than anticipated by economists, according to Dow Jones.

While some economic analysts have suggested the U.S. economy is in recession or on the verge of recession the demand for new workers has remained robust and consumer spending is high despite soaring inflation.
