Utility companies warn public about digging into utility lines

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Arizona Public Service (APS) sent a release warning of the dangers of working underground and says it's important to call 811 before doing any digging.

APS says damaged utility lines are disruptive and costly, but can be avoided by calling 811.

Other services, such as Southwest Gas, SRP, Tucson Electric Power and UniSource Energy Services are reminding the public of how dangerous digging into a utility line can be.

Anyone can contact Arizona 811 at least two days before digging and companies will go out to the site to locate any lines.
