VIDEO: Arizona primary elections
(NBC) - Arizona's Tuesday primary election could indicate the direction of the GOP heading into the midterms as several Trump-backed candidates rally for voters' support.
NBC's Vaughn Hillyard explains what the results could say about what voters in Arizona are prioritizing heading into the midterms.
These Arizona Republican primaries on Tuesday are going to be looked at nationally because for Arizona Republican voters, they're going to be to clear paths forward for them to choose from coming off of these January 6th public hearings.
Just take a look at the Governor's race here.
You've got these two political newcomers, you've got Kerry Lake who has been endorsed by Former President Donald Trump and you've got Karen Taylor Robson who has been endorsed by former Vice President Mike Pence, as well as current Arizona Governor Doug Ducey.
And that is where for these voters, they get to choose which of these candidates - based off of these endorsements - where they want to go.
Kerry Lake, who is the Trump-endorsed candidate, is an election denier, has propagated conspiracy theories about the election - despite Joe Biden legitimately winning the state of Arizona in 2020.
But there's also a Trump-endorsed candidate for Secretary of State, for attorney general and for the U.S. Senate, Blake Masters.
All of these candidates, these Trump-backed candidates, could have a clean sweep here in the state of Arizona.
But of course, the November election is where all of this comes down to.
This state voted for a Democrat for the U.S. Senate in 2018.
Joe Biden won here in 2020 and that is where so much of these next months are going to say so much about American politics in 2022.
