VIDEO: Small plane lands on highway

(NBC) - A small plane lands on a Missouri highway overnight after running out of fuel, authorities say the pilot was arrested on suspicion of intoxication.

A small plane makes an emergency landing on a Missouri highway overnight.

The incident happened around 2:30 a.m., near Grain Valley about 20 miles from Kansas City.

According to authorities, the plane ran out of fuel en route from Florida to the Charles B. Wheeler downtown airport.

The plane struck a guardrail but didn't hit any vehicles on the highway.

Authorities say the pilot was arrested and faces multiple charges, including DWI, felony possession of a firearm and felony possession of a controlled substance.

He was the only person on board and was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
