Akron protests continue in response to Jayland Walker killing
AKRON, Ohio (KYMA, KECY)- Protests continue in Ohio over the Jayland Walker officer-involved shooting. The purpose for this protest was to honor the life of the 25-year-old man's life and demand accountability for his loss of life.
The protest remained peaceful as protesters hoped to respect Walker and his family.
The shooting occurred on Saturday, June 27, 2022.
According to Akron officers, Walker was wearing a ski mask and a gun had been found inside his vehicle the day he was shot by police.
Walker sustained 60 gunshot wounds.
A gunshot from Walker's car was recorded on bodycam, and an Ohio DOT camera captured a muzzle flash.
