Protests continue in Akron, Ohio after body camera footage is released in police shooting

(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - Protests over the deadly police shooting of Jayland Walker continued in Akron, Ohio Sunday night after Akron police officials released new details and bodycam footage of the incident.

Authorities confirmed Walker, a 25-year-old black motorist, received at least 60 wounds and was killed by police after a vehicle and foot pursuit.

It was also confirmed that Walker was unarmed at the time of the shooting, although a gun was found in his car and officials contend Walker did fire at police during the pursuit.

Sunday night protesters took to the streets to demand justice. At one point police in full riot gear fired tear gas canisters to disperse a group outside the justice center.

This has once again relaunched the debate over police use of force across the country.
