CDC: Listeria Florida outbreak causing death

NBC

(NBC) - A new listeria outbreak in Florida is tied to at least one death.

The origin is currently unknown for one death and nearly two dozed hospitalizations tied to the outbreak.

CDC officials say most of those known to have been infected either live in, or traveled to Florida about a month before they got sick.

They say they have not identified a food that might be spreading the deadly bacteria but want to alert the public to the symptoms and the possibility of infection.

Symptoms include fever, muscle aches, nausea and diarrhea and can start one to four weeks after eating contaminated food.
