Thousands of flights canceled as temperatures break records over Father’s Day weekend

(KYMA, KECY/CNN) - Many Americans are facing high temperatures and heat alerts amidst travel issues.

It feels like a sauna out here," says Janiyah McKeever, a traveler.

Records are being broken as temperatures reach the triple digits and more flights are being canceled.

Reports from the TSA say thousands of flights have been delayed or canceled since Friday.

"We are not staffed appropriately for this summer flying," says Delta Airlines Pilot Captain Evan Baach.

Other pilots from Delta Airlines says they're being overworked due to the travel issues.

"We don’t have enough pilots and the company is scheduling more flights than they can fly," expressed Baach.
