Healthy Kids Day held at YMCA in Yuma

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the event, which gives local kids ways to live a healthier life - 13 On Your Side's Luis Lopez reports

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - An event celebrated nationally took place in Yuma earlier Saturday.

It’s the 30th anniversary of ‘Healthy Kids Day,’ an event put on by the YMCA every year.

Yuma YMCA executive director Annie Clary says it gives local kids a chance to check out what summer sports programs they can play in, along with showing them how to live a healthier lifestyle.

“So we’re offering them an opportunity to step back out, see what programs are available for their kids and just enjoy a little bit of sunshine a little bit of healthy tips for fitness and healthy eating,” Clary.

Those who attended were able to get gift bags, along with other free items from vendors who were also there.
