Saguaro Foundation Director: ‘They’re more than employees, they’re family’

The Saguaro Foundation held a special contest bringing many team members' creativity to the surface

SOMERTON, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Saguaro Foundation has been serving the Desert Southwest for decades. They provide a variety of services for the elderly and those with disabilities.

So when the nonprofit was looking for ways to raise money, they also wanted to include their entire team. Case in point, the men and women committed to Saguaro's clients.

The foundation has several programs which include a group home and a transportation system. But, grants can only go so far.

Eduardo Castro the Executive Director for the Saguaro Foundation says their clients deserve the same quality of life as everyone else. Donations go towards improving clients' living conditions to outings.

The foundation decided that they wanted to do more than just a run-of-the-mill fundraiser. They want to invite the community and show their clients that they belong.

They decided on a Fall festival, the date October 8, and the time 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. And of course, the location will be the foundation's Somerton Campus (15719 S. Avenue B).

But, they then decided to let staff create the graphic which in turn will be used to promote the upcoming event. On Friday, April 15, Saguaro Foundation staff gathered together to recognize all who took part in the contest and name the winners.

The prize, is cold hard cash, with third-place taking home $250, second-place $500, and the winner taking home a cool $1,000.

And, the winner is (drum roll) Elsa Aranda whose graphic was subtle with pictures of seasonal leaves and an image depicting helping hands.
