PHOENIX (KYMA, KECY) - Arizona Governor Doug Ducey signed a bill that allows for certain child agencies to discriminate against same-sex families, says the Human Rights Campaign (HRC).

These agencies will be able to take into account a family's LGBTQ+ affiliation, as well as anyone who does not have similar religious views.

The HRC made a statement regarding this new bill saying, "Every child should have the opportunity to grow up in a safe, nurturing environment. That’s why it’s so outrageous that Gov. Ducey signed legislation that will make it harder to place at-need children with qualified, thoroughly-vetted parents who can provide the support they need."

Gov. Ducey recently signed two other bills preventing transgender minors from receiving reassignment surgery and not allowing transgender youth from participating in sports if not in the same gender identity.

"He’s making it harder for kids – including LGBTQ+ kids – to find homes by allowing government contractors to discriminate on the basis of religion when performing taxpayer-funded services. Who pays the price? For the third time in a week – it is Arizona’s already vulnerable children. He shows no shame," concluded the HRC.
