Supply chain issues lead to cat food shortage

The White House

Retailers attempt to find solution to the problem

(KYMA, KECY/CNN) - COVID-19 supply chain issues are causing a cat food shortage.

According to Iowa COVID-19 Coronavirus Economics, there is a shortage of meat used to make cat food along with a shortage of aluminum.

Most wet cat food comes in aluminum packaging.

Some online pet retail stores have fought the cat food shortage by using alternative packaging materials.

Demand for cat food has also risen due to the high rate of cat adoptions since the pandemic.
