92-year-old man goes skydiving with grandkids

Jumping out of a plane was a lifelong dream for Loren Rindels, a dream he finally got to live out with his grandkids by his side - 13 On Your Side's Luis Lopez reports

SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Getting to jump out of a plane has been a lifelong dream for Loren Rindels.

On Saturday, he got to live out that dream, with three of his grandchildren right by his side.

“I’m not nervous at all I’m ready,” Loren said before making the jump.

Going skydiving is something Rindels has wanted to do since he was a teenager.

At 17 years old, he joined the army with hopes of being a paratrooper.

Unfortunately, his dream would have to be put on hold, as he was put in the mechanized cavalry instead, where he drove a tank.

But 75 years later, his wife Luann, had an idea.

“When he turned 92 for his birthday, I decided that was going to be a perfect birthday present,” LuAnn said.

LuAnn organized a jump with Skydive San Luis.

Three of Loren’s grandkids, Joshua, Houston, and Sophie Jackson made their way down from Flagstaff.

Each of them, also went 10,000 feet in the air to make the jump.

They’ve actually gone skydiving before but were happy to give it another go for their grandpa.

“I mean he’s 92, if something hasn’t gotten him already, nothings gonna get that guy,” Joshua said.

Rindels ended up being the last jump of the day. In the end, he didn’t feel an ounce of anxiety, after all, it’s what he was waiting a lifetime to do.

“A little excited, a little, I’m never gonna get nervous, didn’t have time I guess once the plane got off, but I enjoyed it,” Rindels said.
