Yuma drinking water affected by higher than normal levels of chlorine dioxide
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The City of Yuma says one of their chlorine dioxides generators had a problem but there is no cause for concern.
It also assures the drinking water is safe and will take the necessary steps to not have his incident happen again.
Chlorine Dioxide is used to disinfect drinking water and makes it safer to drink but Yuma's drinking water was tested to have multiple instances of higher than regular chloride dioxide levels.
“Providing high-quality drinking water to our residents is the City’s utmost priority and as soon as the City realized there were concerns we contacted the ADEQ and notified you, our customers,” said Acting City Administrator Jay Simonton. “We want to assure our residents that the City has taken swift action to resolve these issues to ensure that it does not happen again.”
