$10M reward offered by US for Guatemala drug lord

US in search of Guatemalan Drug Lord

SAN DIEGO (KYMA, KECY) – The leader of a criminal organization known as Los Huistas has been indicted by a federal Grand Jury. Eugenio Dario "Don Dario" Molina-Lopez allegedly runs the organization which is based in the Huehuetenango region of Northwest Guatemala.

The U.S. Department of State is offering a reward of up to $10 million for information that helps capture or convict Molina-Lopez. This award is offered under the U.S. Department of State’s Narcotics Rewards Program.

Homeland Security Investigations and the United States Attorney’s Office in San Diego has conducted a multi-year operation that targets high-level Guatemalan drug traffickers and their suppliers.

The indictment from January 29, 2019, charges Molina-Lopez with Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine Intended for Unlawful Importation and Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine on Board a Vessel.

Molina-Lopez remains a fugitive.
