ICPHD says COVID-19 risk has dropped across the Imperial Valley

MGN

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The Imperial County Public Health Department (ICPHD) says the Imperial Valley is in good shape when it comes to COVID-19.

In an update delivered on Wednesday morning, ICPHD attributed the major drop in cases to the high vaccination rate across the Imperial Valley.

Janette Angulo the health director with ICPHD said most of the community is fully vaccinated.

"93.6% are fully vaccinated and that includes individuals five years and over," she said.

ICPHD says while the community may be safe for now, it is still important to pay attention to those who are at high risk, such as elders and those who are immunocompromised.
