Southwest High School prepares for a huge concert

KYMA

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Southwest High School (SHS) is getting ready for one of its biggest concerts of the year.

The SHS orchestra and musicians from San Diego will be performing together on March 19. Matthew Busse is the conductor of the Imperial Valley Symphony and teaches at SHS.

Busse says this is a phenomenal event that will bring joy to many since it includes diversity.

"This one is a little bit different because we are getting such a huge brass and wind section," he said.

Lorelei Lara goes to SHS and plays the violin. She says she is thrilled to be a part of this.

"I'm really excited about it because we are playing pieces that are well known, it is really exciting to me to be able to play something so beautiful and known by others along with professional musicians from San Diego," she said.
