Fatal crash involving teen on Avenue B and Patricia Lane
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma County Sheriff's Office was notified of a vehicle-motorcycle collision at the intersection of Avenue B and Patricia Lane.
The crash happened on Monday, March 7, at about 4:23 p.m.
A beginning investigation showed a 2015 black Honda CPR 500 motorcycle traveling northbound on Avenue B, nearing the intersection at Patricia Lane.
The driver of the vehicle, a 2011 silver Chevy Equinox, was heading westbound on Patricia Lane when they failed to yield the right of way to the motorcyclist as it entered the intersection on Avenue B.
A collision proceeded as the motorcyclist hit the rear driver side of the vehicle, causing the motorcyclist to be ejected and fatally injured.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead on scene and is identified as a 17-year-old male from Somerton, Ariz.
Next of kin has been notified.
The driver of the vehicle was taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center for minor injuries.
This case is still under investigation.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this crash.
