Local nominee filing opens for 2022 election cycle

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Filing as a local candidate in the 2022 election cycle begins Monday.

There are two elections this year — the Primary Election on Tuesday, Aug. 2 and the General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 8.

The ballot will include multiple countywide seats, municipal, school and special district seats.

Candidate filing period for the Primary Election and nonpartisan candidates in the General Election starts today, March 7 and ends Monday, April 4 at 5:00 p.m.

Those interested in running for a countywide office can find candidate advice and documentation on the Yuma County Election Services website.

Candidates should file their candidate nomination documents with the Election Services office located at 197 S. Main Street.

The school board candidates can find more information on the Yuma County Superintendent's website and should file their nomination paperwork at 210 S. 1st Avenue.

Municipal candidates can reach out to their City or Town Clerk for details and file as a candidate at that location.
