Maryland man accused of rape of a minor and possession of child pornography, arrested in Arizona
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Jason Douglas Lowry was arrested on Feb. 17, 2022 on charges of rape of a minor and possession of child pornography by the Arizona WANTED Violent Offender Task Force aided by La Paz County Sheriff's office.
“Of all the dangerous fugitives that the U.S. Marshals arrest, the individuals who are charged with the
rape of minors and engaged in child pornography, are especially important to us,” said United States Marshal, David Gonzales.
In Oct. 2020, the Circuit Court for Washington County in Maryland issued an arrest warrant for Lowry because he failed to appear in court on 11 charges of possession and distribution of child pornography.
Furthermore, it's alleged that in July 2021, Lowry committed 2nd degree rape, 3rd and 4th degree sex offenses and assault of a six-year-old girl who was known to him.
Later in 2021, the District Court for Washington County in Maryland arraigned Lowry and issued a warrant for his arrest.
The Capital Area Regional U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force led the investigation before Lowry fled Maryland and made his way to Bouse, Ariz., a small, remote town east of Parker, Ariz.
Due to this, U.S. Marshals Service in Yuma was asked to aid the team effort of locating and arresting Lowry.
After a large-scale investigation, members from both the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force and La Paz County Sherriff's Office found Lowry at a residence in Bouse, Ariz.
While Lowry was fleeing Maryland, he befriended a gentleman who took Lowry in, gave him shelter and employment, unsuspecting he was assisting a child predator.
Lowry was arrested by Deputy U.S. Marshals without incident and booked in to the La Paz County Jail before he is extradited to Maryland to face charges.
