Yuma Fire Department responds to house fire on East 25th Place

Family safe, house and vehicle sustain damage

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - On December 1 at about 5:08 a.m., the Yuma Fire Department (YFD) responded to a fire that was reported near east 25th Place.

Heavy smoke and fire were coming from a home and two vehicles in the driveway.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in about 20 minutes while surrounding streets were closed to traffic.

Reports say a family was asleep in the home when the father heard sounds coming from the garage and noticed the fitire.

The two adults and four children within the home were able to make it out safely.

Sections of the home's roof, the garage and the two vehicles were heavily damaged, but none of the surrounding homes were affected and no injuries were reported.

The American Red Cross is providing assistance to the family and YFD will monitor the area as well as conduct an investigation.
