New Details: Victims of deadly fire in Thermal trapped in mobile home

Eight trailers destroyed or damaged in blaze

THERMAL, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - We're learning more about a fire in an Imperial Valley trailer park that left three people dead, destroyed or damaged eight mobile homes, and left multiple families without a place to live.

The Imperial County Fire Department (ICFD) says the fire broke out just after 8:30 Friday morning at the Desert Shores Mobile Home Park. Firefighters got word the flames had spread to a second trailer while they in route. By the time fire engines arrived, the fire had reached a third home, and flames were spreading fast. ICFD issued a second alarm and began battling the blaze.

While fighting the flames, crews learned some people were trapped in the trailer where the blaze began. Firefighters later discovered the bodies of an adult man, and two teenagers in that home. Neighbors say the victims were a father and his teenage son and daughter. Officials have not yet released any information on their identities.

The Red Cross is helping those left homeless.

Still no word on what caused the fire.
