Republican Rep introduces legislation to repeal federal marijuana prohibition
Bill to provide relief for marijuana-related incidents and products
WASHINGTON, D.C. (KYMA, KECY) - On November 15, Representative Nancy Mace (R-SC) announced the States Reform Act to repeal the federal prohibition of marijuana.
The comprehensive bill is to expunge federal non-violent marijuana crimes, promote ownership in the cannabis industry and places restrictions on advertising marijuana products.
“Representative Mace, along with multiple other Republicans, has put forward comprehensive and sensible legislation to repeal marijuana criminalization and this effort deserves serious consideration,” stated NORML Political Director Justin Strekal. “Between the previously passed MORE Act, the recent Senate proposal by Leader Schumer, and this new bill, it is truly a race to the top for the best ideas and smartest approaches to responsible reform.”
This act is looking to release anyone who's been incarcerated for federal non-violent marijuana crimes and provide relief.
