Astroworld promoter records reveal a history of safety violations

Previous death occured under same promoter

HOUSTON, Texas (KYMA, KECY/CNN) - Astroworld Festival's concert organizer and promoter, Live Nation Entertainment, has previous records of citations over numerous safety issues.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration's website reveals records of Live Nation being fined for several issues over the past decade, including a 2018 incident was hospitalized after being struck by a six-foot long metal post.

Another safety issue included an employee, who wasn't wearing safety equipment and died falling through a stage.

Live Nation is the owner of Ticketmaster, a vendor that sells tickets to events, and has made millions each year. Shares for Live Nation have dropped more than 6% on Monday.

Live Nation released a statement regarding the tragedy at Astroworld: "Heartbroken for those lost and impacted at Astroworld last night."

A lawsuit has been filed against Live Nation, as well as Travis Scott, a performer and organizer for the festival.

“We will continue working to provide as much information and assistance as possible to the local authorities as they investigate the situation," finished Live Nation's statement.

The Astroworld tragedy saw eight people die and many injured after the crowd were tightly packed and crushed against each other. Police are currently investigating what caused the incident.
