Blood drive helps residents give back in a meaningful way
El Centro Regional Medical Center asks residents to donate blood and help save lives - News 11's Vince Ybarra reports
EL CENTRO, Calif. (KECY, KYMA) - El Centro Regional Medical Center (ECRMC) and Life Stream are hosting a blood drive at Dr. Martin Luther King Sports Pavilion in El Centro.
CEO of ECRMC, Dr. Adolphe Edward, said that there is always a need for blood.
“We are always asking our community members to come in and help us,” said Edward.
Life Stream, who partnered with ECRMC to host the blood drive, said they service 80 hospitals throughout California.
Residents are taking advantage of this opportunity to give back.
“I’m fortunate enough to be able to come out to this convenient facility and the opportunity to help is such a blessing,” said Emily Cullity.
Cullity, an El Centro resident, said she is grateful to ECRMC and Life Stream for giving her this platform to give back in such a meaningful way.
ECRMC and Life Stream hope to collect 36 units of blood. For comparison, one trauma patient in the emergency room can demand 30 to 40 units of blood in one day.
You have until July 30 to go and donate blood. They are still accepting walk-in appointments.
