A local motorcycle group takes a ride to help those in need
Motorcycle riders with the American Legion Riders Post #19 visited three local nonprofits over the weekend
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - According to the American Legion Riders Post #19 director Douglas Craig his group might be small, but that won't stop them from helping those in need. On May 22, 2021, Craig and his fellow riders visited three nonprofits to deliver a special package.
The riders first visited Amberly's Place, a center designed to assist victims of abuse. They met with staff and presented them with a check. After a tour of the facility, riders took to the road and headed north towards the Crossroads Mission.
Upon arrival at the mission, which serves the community as a shelter as well as a detox facility, the riders met with staff and also presented them with a check.
Their final stop was the veteran assistance facility Right Turn in Yuma's North End. Once again, the group presented the staff of Right Turn with a check.
The donations were made possible thanks to profits from the American Legion Post #19 kitchen which serves the community affordable meals and from registration fees from a motorcycle run that took place in March.
