A local business does its part to protect people’s identities

AEA Federal Credit Union holds annual Shred Day offering customers the opportunity to destroy sensitive documents

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - It's a dirty job, but identity theives don't bat an eye digging in your trash. The prize is discarded credit applications and anything with your private information.

So, each year AEA Credit Union sets aside a day to help customers destroy their sensitive documents. Along with Desert Document Shredders who supply its mobile shredding vehicle, they make sure those documents are nothing more than confetti.

Marketing specialist Ashlie Pendleton says that it's imperative that people dispose of anything with their information appropriately. Pendleton recommends people to use a shredder of use a shredding service.

Pendleton says that this service is just part of who the financial institute is "You know we've been here sine 1942. We're a community-owned credit union. We're part of our communities. So, as being part of our community and serving our members it's just another part of us trying to help our members."
