U.S. Marshals arrest fugitive wanted for sexual assault of a minor in Yuma
Marshals say suspect fled area after grand jury indictment
MESA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - U.S. Marshals say they have arrested a Yuma man wanted for the kidnap and sexual assault of a minor.
Ricardo Ruan is accused of attacking a 15-year-old at his Yuma home in July of 2018. Investigators say Ruan physically assaulted the victim, prevented her from leaving the house, and then raped her. The victim claims she lost consciousness during the attack, and woke up abandoned and alone.
Yuma County indicted Ruan on April 22 of this year on multiple counts of sexual assault of a minor, multiple counts of sexual conduct with a minor, and a single count of kidnapping. The Yuma Police Department (YPD) says he left town the day after the grand jury handed down that indictment.
YPD called in the U.S. Marshals Service to help track him down. Marshals say they found Ruan in a motel in Mesa. They arrested him without incident as he got into his car. The suspect will be returned to Yuma to face the charges.
