Harris to make first trip abroad
Vice President to visit Mexico and Guatemala in June
Providence, R.I. (KYMA, KECY) - Vice President Kamala Harris has scheduled her first trip abroad since taking office.
Harris will visit Mexico and Guatemala in early June. The vice president is leading the administration's diplomatic efforts to slow the flood of asylum seekers flowing into the U.S. from Central America.
"I'm very much looking forward to that trip, as you know it will come after a variety of work that we've been doing thus far, which is including now my second direct conversation with President of Guatemala, I'm going to be talking with the President of Mexico again this week, this will be the second conversation I'll have with him."
Harris will be in Mexico on June 7, and in Guatemala on June 8.
