Earth Day celebration held in South County

A partnership between the City of San Luis, PPEP Tec and generous donors allows community to plant a seed for the future

SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The City of San Luis has been deemed one of the fastest growing communities in the Desert Southwest. So, when you have more people, you're going to need more of everything.

During a special ceremony on April 22, 2021, Earth Day, the City of San Luis along with their community partners PPEP TEC and a few generous donors came together to beautify the city. In total, 30-trees were purchased, but only 20 of them were planted.

Donors included The Uhen Family, Del Sol Markets and Exxpress Lube. PPEP TEC provided revitalization of the park investing hundreds of volunteers hours.

San Luis Mayor Gerardo Sanchez spoke at the presentation, telling the audience the city's efforts to improve the quality of life in South County. Sanchez applauded the efforts of PPEP TEC staff and their students who made this event possible.

PPEP TEC offers young adults the opportunity to advance their education as well as learn a trade. Participants also learn the importance of community involvement through volunteer work.

PPEP Park is located on Juan Sanchez Boulevard and Hidalgo Avenue in San Luis, Arizona.
