MEXICALI, B.C. (KYMA, KECY)-It took more than a year for the Mexicali government to suspend construction on one of the busiest roads.

Last year, the construction of a 16-story building on L Montejano Street caused a water pipe to burst to result in a sinkhole in the middle of the road without being repaired.

At the time, the construction company partially closed the highway, but in recent months took it entirely without the authorization of the municipal government, among other permits that the company omitted.

The director of urban administration of the Mexicali government says that the company was sanctioned and suspended construction work, since this work has also affected the mobility of the city, especially the surrounding homes and businesses.
