MEXICALI, B.C. (KYMA, KECY)-A group of older adults in Mexicali is transferred to the Youth Cultural House Center (CREA) after their shelter was closed due to risky conditions.

Seven men and three women were transferred to CREA to be evaluated by doctors, social workers, and caregivers to provide care for them.

Older people do not have family members that can take care of them. However, they are under the supervision of the Integral Development for the municipal family (DIF) to receive the care they need.

The director of the municipal DIF says the elderly were not transferred to other shelters due to its maximum capacity, in addition to not having a diagnosis of health conditions or COVID-19 infections.
