YPD identifies man killed in accident

UPDATE - Friday, June 12, 2020 - 1:57 p.m.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma Police Department (YPD) has identified the man killed in a motorcycle crash on Thursday.

YPD says 83-year-old James Greer died after running a stop sign at E. 40th street and Avenue 5E. They say Greer hit a dirt berm before rolling his trike and hitting a tree.

Police say it doesn't look like alcohol or speed contributed to the crash

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY)-An 83-year-old man dies after a motorcycle accident on Thursday.

The Yuma Police Department says they responded to a single-vehicle crash at the 5000 block of E. 40th Street. 

Police say the 83-year-old man riding a red 2012 Can-Am motorcycle, was traveling eastbound on 40th Street and failed to stop at the stop sign on Avenue 5E.

The motorcycle veered left into the westbound lane, hitting a dirt berm, rolled, and crashed into a citrus tree. 

The man was taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center where he later died of his injuries.

Police say speed nor alcohol appear to be factors at this time.

The case is still under investigation.
