CBP: 20-year-old caught with nearly 1,000 oxycodone pills in Blythe
BLYTHE, Calif. (KYMA, KECY)-A 20-year-old is arrested at the immigration checkpoint in Blythe after carrying nearly 1,000 oxycodone pills, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
CBP says they received information from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) on Monday night regarding two vehicles smuggling drugs. When both vehicles arrived to the checkpoint, a Jeep Cherokee and a shuttle van, they were sent to secondary for a further inspection.
Agents then conducted a pat-down search on all the occupants of the vehicles.
One of the men riding as a passenger in the van was found with oxycontin underneath his clothes.
CBP says the estimated value of the pills is nearly $12,000.
The 20-year-old male U.S. citizen was charged with controlled substance violations.
The pills were seized and the case was turned over to HSI.
