Sonora sees case growth surge
HERMOSILLO, Sonora (KYMA, KECY)-Sonora reports the largest single-day spike in new coronavirus cases since the pandemic began, with 225 new cases and 14 deaths.
Since March 16, the cases and death toll in Sonora keeps rising. Hermosillo continues to take the lead with 984 cases; however, San Luis Rio Colorado takes the lead with the most deaths, 68.
The new cases are in the following cities; Hermosillo 97, Nogales 66, Cajeme 41, Guaymas 6, Navojoa 3, Agua Prieta 3, Bavispe 2, Cananea 2, SLRC 1, Quiriego 1, Ures 1, Huatabampo 1, Benito Juarez 1.
The new deaths are reported in; Cajeme 5, Navojoa 2, Nogales 2, Hermosillo 2, Guaymas 1, SLRC 1, Agua Prieta 1.
In a video conference Thursday evening the Secretary of Health in Sonora, Enrique Clausen Iberri says, "I ask you to stay at home. To the elderly, pregnant women, children, diabetics. And the people who have to go out to work take care and protect yourself. I ask all cities in Sonora to commit ourselves to take care of all the personnel that works in the hospitals."
In Sonora, 6,077 patients have been tested, 3,035 patients tested negative, 348 patients have recovered, 2,155 patients have mild symptoms, 284 remain hospitalized, 176 patients are in serious condition, and 52 patients are on ventilators.
